Biking and hiking are second nature here in Palm Coast and the Flagler Beaches. With more than 100 miles of trails to choose from with a variety of different levels, there is something for everyone. Florida’s nearly perfect year-round weather invites cyclists to hit the roads and trails regularly, and bicycling in Palm Coast and Flagler Beach is a growing sport.

Off-road adventurers will enjoy Graham Swamp Preserve. This trail is 6.5 miles of technical riding, making good use of the ridges and valleys to provide a constant elevation challenge. Off-road riding opportunities are also expanding in the area with the push from a newly organized off-road cycling club. The second trail completed in Palm Coast is just the first from the club. It’s located along the coast in the Hammock area, known as the Mala Compra trail. Looking for an easier ride? Many of the parks offer paved trails like the St. Joe Walkway / Linear Park with scenic Intracoastal views as well as those of the maritime forest and hardwood hammock.
The A1A Ocean Shore Scenic Highway begins at the Volusia/Flagler County line and extends north 7.3 miles to the northern city limits of
Beverly Beach. Scenic and historic A1A Highway links to the River & Sea Trail, which extends north to the Flagler/St. Johns county
line providing a continuous scenic corridor from county line to county line along A1A. The 72-mile segment of historic State Road A1A
abounds with white sandy beaches, ample recreational adventures, and history dating back before the birth of this county.

The 150 acres of Bulow Plantation Ruins stand as a monument to the rise and fall of sugar plantations in East Florida. In 1836, the
Second Seminole War swept away the prosperous Bulow Plantation where the Bulow family grew sugar cane, cotton, rice and indigo. Ruins
of the former plantation, a sugar mill, a unique spring house, several wells and the crumbling foundations of the plantation house and
slave cabins show how volatile the Florida frontier was in the early 19th century. Today, a scenic walking trail leads visitors to the
sugar mill ruins, listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. The park has picnic facilities and an interpretive center that
tells the plantation's history. A boat ramp provides access for canoes and small powerboats to scenic Bulow Creek, a designated state
canoe trail. Anglers can fish from the dock or a boat.

This biking trail is fast with lots of ups and downs. The Swamp is often quite sandy, but this is managed by a good rain
fall. It is about 6.5 miles and has some good jumps and log runs. It is a momentum trail, so easy on the breaks because you
will need the speed for the hill coming up. The hiking trail has hills and slopes so make sure to wear your hiking boots for this
trail. It is also important to note that this trail does intertwine with the mountain bike trail. Please make sure to follow the signs
and stay on the hiking path. The Graham Swamp Conservation Area helps maintain the integrity and quality of northeast Florida's coastal
ecosystems and its associated ecological functions. The area supports a rich variety of wading birds, water fowl, and passerine bird
species, as well as deer, otters, foxes, and other mammals, and alligators. When conditions allow, visitors may hike, bicycle, fish
from the banks, view wildlife, and study nature.

Princess Place Preserve is the crown jewel of Flagler County's preserves. This beautiful 1500 acre preserve is located at the
confluence of Pellicer Creek, Moody Creek, and the Matanzas River. This beautiful 1,500-acre preserve situated in the northern part of
Flagler County was purchased by Henry Cutting in 1886 and passed on to his widow Angela Mills Cutting Worden, who eventually
married Boris Scherbatoff, an exiled Russian prince. Angela assumed the title of princess and it was then that the once named
"Cherokee Grove" came to be known as "Princess Place. The original lodge built by Henry Cutting still stands as Flagler County's
oldest intact structure. Also on-site is Florida's very first in-ground swimming pool.

Although the formal gardens are the centerpiece of this park, Washington Oaks is also famous for the unique shoreline of coquina rock
formations that line its Atlantic beach. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River, this property was once owned by a
distant relative of President George Washington. The gardens were established by Louise and Owen Young who purchased the land in 1936
and built a winter retirement home. They named it Washington Oaks and, in 1965, donated most of the property to the State. The gardens
make remarkable use of native and exotic species, from azaleas and camellias to the exquisite bird of paradise, sheltered within a
picturesque oak hammock. Visitors can picnic and fish from either the beach or the seawall along the Matanzas River. A number of short
trails provide opportunities for hiking and bicycling. Visitors can learn about the park's natural and cultural resources in the
visitor center. Located two miles south of Marineland on State Road A1A.
